Painting is an expressive, spontaneous and an artistic process for Sharon Candy.

Her paintings search to capture the contrasting rawness and beauty of the land and its environment. Works are developed from reference plein-air diaries and paintings. Ideas and emotions are instinctually played with into paintings back in Sharon's studio.

A work will change from being related to a place, forging its own identity. Erasing the realism of an image by the deconstruction of the subject matter to forms, lines and mark making. 

The works are abstractly painted in oil or acrylic with gestural strokes to reveal notions of experiences and travels. The abstract compositions are intentional to draw out the viewers own reactions and individual interpretations.

Sydney based Sharon has been shortlisted Finalist in an array of art prizes across Sydney over the past 20 years, and we are so pleased to represent her emotive works here at Apartment 91.
