About the Artist
Celebrated Dutch born, Melbourne based artist Marise Maas is represented in numerous major collections nationally and internationally, including the National Gallery of Australia.
'In the midst of global uncertainties and wobbly times, it’s a privilege to paint.
There’s a positivity to keep rolling on and not to forget to look at the small everyday scenes in life.
Horses are still featured on a regular basis because I love them.
They are often used as stand-ins for human scenarios.
There is a continuous fascination with the everyday, the banal and the trivial.
Looking closely at the smaller things can ease the anxiety of the overwhelming grandiose picture.
Rolling on but not rolling over.
