reSONATE Exhibition, Ruth Levine "King Gold"
HK Edit Presents "reSONATE": A combined exhibition that features the exceptional talent of renowned artists Robyn Kinsela and Ruth Levine.
"reSONATE" marks the culmination of a creative journey that began when Ruth attended a mixed media class taught by Robyn focussing on acrylic and mixed media painting at the Sturt Winter School in 2007. From this encounter a deep artistic friendship blossomed, leading to this collaborative exhibition.
Through "reSONATE," Ruth Levine and Robyn Kinsela delve into the realms of creative interpretation and communication; their exploration encompasses core pillars: Sound, Materials + Language.
reSONATE exhibition is available for viewing at HK Edit from Friday 28th July to Thursday 7th September, 2023.
Ruth Levine, a Sydney-based mixed media and textile artist and sculptor, explores textures and the perceptual responses to three-dimentional artwork. Her creative process resolves around repurposing life's ephermera, giving preloved or upcycled materials new life and transforming them into captivating sculptures and beautiful art pieces.
Ruth's art conveys her profound ethos of responsible waste management and her unwavering commitment to reducing everyday waste, enabling objects to transition gracefully into their next life as meaningful artistic expressions.
Text, recycled mediums, paper, textiles, and string are among the diverse materials employed in the exhibition. Elements such as teabags and coffee filters are upcycled and embody the cherished moments spent conversing over a warm cup, while discarded they find new life as art on paper.
"King Gold" is created with PET, timber, concrete, steel, fabric, paper and string and measures 1610mmH x 250mmW
